Production Training Scheme

Production Training Scheme

Production Training Scheme

Our Production Training Scheme is open to anyone who wants to learn about what goes into making great television programmes.

Production Training Scheme

The Channel 4 Production Training Scheme is for entry level talent who want to break into the media industry and are passionate about making television programmes. In 2021/22 we will be offering paid places at one of the UK's independent production companies for 12 months. Our first cohort will open for applications in January with opportunities available across the UK in Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Belfast, Cardiff, North Wales and Glasgow.

Applicants applying for this scheme may already have a degree in Film and Television (or related) or have some previous experience of the television industry through running, work experience or short term placements, but no more than 3 months.

The scheme aims to offer opportunities to those currently underrepresented in the TV industry, so we are particularly keen to hear from disabled people, people from a Black, Asian and minority ethnic background and people from lower socio-economic groups who are from or currently living/working in the locations listed above.

If successful, you’ll spend a week in TV Boot Camp to get things underway. Here, you’ll hear from graduates of the scheme and Commissioning Editors who’ll give you the lowdown on what it takes to succeed. Then your career in TV starts for real at your production company - but we’ll still see you once a month for training to help your further your career.

The scheme will begin in May 2021.

Applications are now closed. If you applied for the scheme please note we received a very high volume of applications so have been delayed in getting back to candidates. We appreciate your patience and will get back to everyone as soon as possible.

Want to find out more before applying?

Find out more about the Production Training Scheme, what makes a great candidate, and how to take your first steps into TV in these recorded virtual workshops, which took place on 20, 21 and 22 January.

These hour-long webinars include insights from former Channel 4 trainees, who are now working to create great television, and also the independent production companies taking part in the scheme.
